Debutante Program Participation Criteria

The debutante candidate must:

1) Must be a current high school junior or senior (2025-2026).

2) Have at least a 2.0 grade point average (GPA).

3) Submit an unofficial transcript.

4) Show evidence of extracurricular activities and community service.

5) Be single, unmarried, and childless.

6) Be of good character and reputation.

7) Follow dress guidelines and maintain proper etiquette at all WICA Debutantes events.

8)  Be willing to commit time for participation in Women In Community Action, Inc. (WICA) Debutante program activities and Debutante Ball preparation activities.

9) Submit two sealed or electronic recommendations. Forms are attached. At least one form must be from a school counselor or a high school teacher.  The recommendations may not be from family members or Godparents.

10) Fulfill all financial obligations before presentation.

11) Parents and/or guardians are:

• to actively participate in the program with their debutante (e.g., Mother/Daughter Luncheon, attend scheduled rehearsals and the ball, host Debutante event, etc.).
• responsible for the Debutante Participation Fee and meeting all financial obligations by the due dates (before presentation).
• responsible for other Debutante program obligations, including (but not limited to) the purchase or acquisition of debut attire (ball gown, shoes, gloves, etc.).

Note: Being a Debutante is an exciting time in your life that you will always remember!! In addition to being presented before friends and relatives, many activities are leading up to the Ball. These include the Kick-Off, Get-Acquainted Party, Career/College Workshop, Mother/Daughter Luncheon, Etiquette Classes, and a Community Service Project. In addition, college scholarships may be earned in this program.
