Message from the President

Welcome and thank you for visiting our website.

It is an honor to serve as President of Women In Community Action, Inc. (WICA) as we celebrate 50 years of community service to Prince William County and surrounding areas. We are committed to advancing our mission by helping our youth, assisting families in need, serving meals to the homeless, promoting education, providing scholarships, strengthening our community, and delivering impactful services for those we serve.

WICA’s legacy continues from 1976 to present as our four phenomenal Founders Fannie W. Fitzgerald, Delores C. Hampton, Clara L. Harris, and Mary F. Williams built a successful organization through collaboration and service.  WICA is proud to have two elementary schools named in honor of our trailblazing founders, Mary F. Williams Elementary School in Dumfries, Virginia and the Fannie W. Fitzgerald Elementary School in Woodbridge, Virginia.  The vision and memory of our founding members will forever be at the center of all we do as we continue to evolve.  We remain focused on responding to emerging community needs, creating sustainable impacts, and making a difference in the lives of youth through tutoring, mentoring, and educational enrichment.

Over the years, WICA’s outreach and partnerships efforts have touched many different facets of the community. We awarded over $190,000 in college scholarships to high school seniors in Prince William and surrounding counties. Our Biennial Signature Debutante Ball Program provides mentoring and scholarship opportunities, and fosters social and cultural awareness for young ladies who are high school juniors and seniors.  We have presented over 450 ladies to society through the Debutante Ball.

The progress we achieve is made possible through the collective efforts of our members, supporters, and community partners. Their commitment enables us to move our strategic priorities forward and position WICA for continued growth and long-term success.
